Trader Joe’s for the win (as per usual)!! It was seriously such a game changer when I discovered Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage. THIS is the magic ingredient in this super easy and delish latte recipe–not too sweet with just the right amount of coffee and pumpkin spice flavors. It’s almost wrong to call it a recipe because it’s basically pouring two ingredients together. The only thing simpler would be to go out and buy a PSL (that most likely won’t have real pumpkin in it–TJ’s Pumpkin spice almond beverage actually does have real pumpkin in it. Yay for vitamin A!). If you want to amp up the health benefits of this drink, I give you some suggestions at the end!

Aside from having real pumpkin in it, I also love that this PSL has WAY less sugar than if you went the route of getting one at a coffee shop that most likely uses pumpkin spice flavored syrup (AKA sugar bomb). If you order a PSL at Starbucks, chances are you’re going to hit around the 50 grams of sugar mark. If you follow my recipe for the world’s easiest pumpkin spice latte (leaving out the whipped cream), you’re only at 11.25 grams of sugar (#winning).

My favorite way to make this latte is to have 2 shots of espresso at the ready (You can use one shot, but I like the extra espresso punch of coffee flavor along with the caffeine…because mama of 2). You can use the Vietnamese coffee maker method I used in my Vietnamese Iced Coffee recipe, or use your espresso maker. Alternatively, if you don’t have an espresso maker, you can just brew really strong coffee or even use cold brew concentrate.


Iced Version

Since it’s been in the 80s and 90s here in Santa Barbara (seriously, WHY is it so hot?!–face palm), I’m still all about the iced beverages. To enjoy this iced, all you have to do is fill your glass with ice, pour in 6 ounces of the pumpkin spice almond beverage and your 2 ounces of espresso. Pop in a straw, and drink at your desired pace (for me, that means inhaling it and wishing I had more :D).


Hot Version

While I typically go for the iced version, Dave usually prefers the hot version. So if you’re looking up to cozy up with this delish PSL, what you’ll need to do is either froth the pumpkin spice almond beverage in a frother (which I’ve heard great things about but have never used myself), or you can go the ghetto fab route and just pour your pumpkin almond beverage in a mason jar, close it, and shake it vigorously for 1 minute. Once shaken, microwave it for a minute and then pour the pumpkin almond beverage in with your espresso. You’ll even see some lovely foam action on top thanks to the shaking.

Iced Version:


-2 oz of espresso

-6oz Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage

Hot Version:

-2 oz of espresso

-6 oz Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage

Whipped cream to top off if you’re feelin’ extra 🙂


*If you like your drinks sweeter, you can add some sweetness with your sweetener of choice. My suggestions for this drink would be stevia or maple syrup.

*If you want to boost the health factor of this drink, add 2-3 teaspoons of collagen hydrolysate (if you’re not vegan/or vegetarian)/ or a 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder.



-Pour ingredients together, and enjoy. See? I told you it’s seriously so easy.
